1929 Riley Mk4 Tourer

£SOLD

Registration: PK 8170
Colour: Black/Red
Interior: Red

This super vintage 4 seater Tourer was registered in April 1929, retaining its original number plate.

She is nicely patinated with a black fabric body and red steel wings and bonnet. She is powered by the famous Riley 9hp engine, mated to a ‘silent 3rd ‘ 4 speed gearbox and with gravity fed scuttle mounted fuel tank

Lovely period features include correct instruments, Rotax switch panel, 3 spoke steering wheel with levers and Rotax headlamps.

The car has been used very sparingly; in fact only for VSCC events where she has, according to her last owner, never failed to win an award. This includes a first class on the tricky Measham.

In recent times the car has had a reconditioned mag, a floor mounted cut out switch, new bulkhead and resilvered headlamps with halogen bulbs.

An engine recently rebuilt by a marque expert with uprated cams and Phoenix crank is installed presently in the car (No 12474) and embues the car with a lively turn of speed and good road manners in modern traffic.  The original engine (No 12750) is also included. This, according to invoices on file, has also been rebuilt and seems to have covered less than 1000 miles since.

As befits such an early mag drive engine of 1929 it has the flat timing case cover and the early cylinder head rounded between the plugs.

The car is eligible for vintage VSCC events and light car events too as it is currently running on a single carb.

In conclusion a usable and well sorted automobile with some upgrades to cope with modern road conditions suitable for all manner of events that deserves to be used by it`s new custodian.
