An opportunity to acquire a promising project with an original steel Brooklands body and running gear largely restored to a high standard.

The car is built upon a chassis with the number 6012385 that has been correctly modified to Brooklands specification and that fits the body perfectly. The body is an original steel body with doors that was fitted with a windscreen and folding hood. The screen and hood frame are both included, giving the buyer the choice of refitting these to the car or restoring it with Brooklands aero screens for a period racing look. As can be seen in the images, the original steel doors are included along with a pair of new aluminium doors for the car as well as 4 new aluminium cycle wings. A complete bonnet for the car is also included as can be seen.

The current owner has largely completed the running gear of the car, with parts such as the steering components and brake components remade and nickel plated. The brake drums have been lightened and all non plated parts have been painted black. The headlamp stays have been hand made for the car and present nicely in polished aluminium. Though not photographed a pair of Rotax headlamps are included with the car.

The car comes with a correct Silent 3rd gearbox with desirable Brooklands remote gearchange and Brooklands chain clutch mechanism. As seen in the photographs, the engine has been built for higher performance and has a number of very rare Brooklands components including the larger sump with facility for the original ‘rat trap’ oil filler (if you can find one!), Brooklands magneto drive and water pump piping. The engine has been rebuilt with Phoenix crankshaft and conrods and is fitted with 4 Amal carburettors and a big port 4 branch exhaust system. Once finished and running, this will be a very potent and competitive car to drive.

The dash panel comes with a rev counter, speedometer, ammeter, oil pressure gauge and clock and also has a rebuilt Rotax switch panel. The framework for mounting the seats is all fitted with wooden bases made to fit.

A superb basis to finish a stalled project, perfect for Winter with the potential to build a competitive car for racing/hillclimbing or fast road usage.
