An excellent running example of the Riley Lynx. This particular car has been with the current owner since 2001 and has seen much usage in that time with many road trips in the UK and around Europe under it’s belt.
The car starts and runs very nicely, it’s 12/4 engine fitted with twin 1 1/4″ SUs and mated to a preselect gearbox with traffic clutch. The engine was rebuilt in 2012/13 with numerous upgrades including being converted to shell bearings, spin off oil filter, sprite profile cams, hardened valve seats and full flow exhaust manifold. The car is fitted with a higher back axle ratio for improved uphill performance and cruises happily at 50mph.
The cabin presents well in all black with most of the upholstery appearing to be original. The front seats have been retrimmed at some stage and match well and are comfortable with good padding. The weather equipment is in excellent condition with the sidescreens fitting well with the hood. The tonneau has been particularly well done with split front section that can stow away under the rear section. A hood bag secures the hood when stowed.
The front tyres are brand new with the rears being fitted in 2019 and covering approximately 2500 miles, including a tour to Switzerland!
The door shuts are good with minimal movement in the hinges, all shutting nicely into their catches. The paintwork is fair overall, polishing well overall but with blemishes appropriate to the usage the car has seen. The holes for the running board strips are present meaning that they could easily be made and fitted, a good job for a weekend!
Overall a very practical vintage car, easy to drive with plenty of room for four and luggage and good performance on road.
