1937 Riley 6 Light 12/4 Kestrel.
Reg No : ELM 294
Chassis No : 28K7538
Tax Class : Historic Vehicle
This well maintained and very practical Riley is the epitome of fine sporting saloons of the 1930`s.
Powered by the Riley 12/4, 1500cc engine to Sprite specification and mated to the 4 speed Wilson preselect gearbox the Riley is imbued with a good turn of speed and will cruise happily at 60 mph. Twin Su`s and a 4 branch exhaust system add to the appeal.
The body is finished in blue with cream wire wheels and contrasting cream leather interior. The dash panel is comprehensive and to`Sprite` spec with 5 inch rev counter and speedometer.
This Riley was first registered in December 1937 and as evidenced by lack of bonnet louvres was very much a 1938 car with the current custodian being only the 3rd owner.
Completely restored in the early 2000`s by Pitney and Blue Diamond amongst others and including a new frame (over £43k spent as evidenced by the comprehensive invoice and picture files) this Riley has only covered some 4600 miles since.
A list of works though by no means all includes:
Overhauled wheels and new tyres in 2019
4 branch exhaust
Rebuilt twin SU`s
LED lights conversion
Remote oiler to steering box
Rebuilt water pump
Sealed bearing wheel hubs and brake shoes relined
The list goes on!
In conclusion a lovely car, on the road and ready for the next owner to enjoy and with the added benefit of a sunroof for the best of both worlds.
