Sold by Ashridge Automobiles a few years ago and offered for sale now owing to the owner’s change of plans.

Prior to his ownership this Riley was owned by a father and son for 40 years and was used on a regular basis until the father`s death, the Riley was a cherished member of the family.

A good usable example of the Riley Kestrel, one of the best sporting saloons of the 1930s.

Powered by the famous 12/4 engine mated to a 4 speed preselecta gearbox this Riley is capable of dealing with modern traffic conditions. Cruising at 55 to 65 mph presents no issues and stopping with the girling rod braking system is very effective.

This particular car is a late model in the Kestrel production run as evidenced by the switch panel on the dashboard and the lack of bonnet louvres.

A Riley well suited to touring and taking to events which awaits it`s next owner.

The present owner, since purchase, has carried out the following works:

  • New head gasket and all engine gaskets.
  • New fuel gauge and sender unit.
  • Fuel tank removed, cleaned and tank sealer repair.
  • New electronic ignition.
  • Flashers rewired with new flasher unit.
  • Starter Motor – new brushes and overhauled (commutator etc.)
  • Starter solenoid overhauled.
  • Manual carburettor new gaskets and overhauled.
  • New SU fuel pump added with switch.
  • New Inertia seat belts.
  • 12 volt output socket (negative earth),
  • Recent oil and oil filter changed (Classic 20/50 oil)

There are pictures on file of an ashframe and body rebuild as well as assorted invoices and paperwork.
