1938 Riley 2.5 Special

£SOLD

Registration
FVT 597

Recently acquired by Ashridge Automobiles this is a really well built Riley Special with oodles of power and low down torque as befits a lightweight aluminium panelled car powered by a 2 ½ litre engine.
The car was constructed many years ago by a well respected and talented coachbuilder and the bodywork is extremely well finished with attention to detail. Some paintwork and final finishing work could be undertaken and Ashridge Automobiles has `in house` facilities to undertake this to the new owners specification.
The car has a post war 2 ½ litre engine with twin SU`s mated to a 3 speed and overdrive original gearbox from a Big 4. The original Big 4 engine from 1938 is included with the car and if rebuilt can be exchanged for the engine currently fitted. Invoices on file include over £19,000 for the fitting and adapting of the engine bay, engine and gearbox by Barrie Gillies and letters on file agree to it`s eligibility by the VSCC so long as the original engine remains in the car. This is solely for VSCC purposes but the car will be eligible for many events throughout Europe.
The new owner will be able to choose his own dashboard and instrument layout as these are functional rather than attractive. Ashridge Automobiles again will carry out this work for the new owner.
Registered on the 5th May 1938 as stated on the V5,with the original number FVT 597, this car will make a wonderfully competitive machine with enormous potential .
