Original GT Ford Cortina Mk 1 4 door.
This great project has been off the road for 2 years and lack of time precludes finishing.
The car is a 1965 model registered as an Historic Vehicle and is exempt from road tax.
It has FIVA and FIA papers.
Rally modifications include front Recaro seats and seat harnesses, comprehensive instrumentation and repositioned boot mounted fuel tank.
Sump guards complete the ensemble and a complete set of spare wheels with road tyres to go with the mud and snow shod wheels presently fitted.
As can be seen from the decals in the photos the car has until recently taken part in many rally events and being Ford with parts readily available this is an ideal entry into the increasingly popular historic rally scene.
The engine is the correct 1500 cc unit breathed upon by Throbnozzle Racing as evidenced by the cylinder head and twin 40 Webers. The car runs smoothly and the 4 speed gearbox is smooth.
The car requires recommissioning with a new front wind and headlamp required as well as a rear light cluster and surround. The bodywork is fair but the car could do with new doorskins and quarter panels to achieveĀ its full potential and then probably a respray. The underside has been passed as sound and the issues seem to be with exterior panels where the car has been rallied and had ongoing repairs where rust has occurred.
With prices on the rise and eligible events increasing year on year this car represents good value especially for the enthusiastic amateur.
